These are my final 3 images that I have created as I wanted to create a piece of work which connects the audience to the model. I used the idea of creating emotion within my images from the 5 artists which we had previously studied, eg. David Bailey creates emotion in his images by changing the lighting. I really like the way they tell a story together and they still have elements which contrast with each and other.
The first image may seem to a normal person that the person is having fun and being their usual self however, to someone that feels connected with the image may feel something different. They can see the obvious at how the person looks happy as they are smiling and the image is bright yet this contrasts with the shadowing on his face, which makes us acknowledge that he has two sides. The colours of the persons coat works really well in the image as it shows the side of that they are quite fond of nature and this is portrayed through the browns and greens of the image. The other side which can come out to the viewer makes them feel sympathetic towards him. The trees lines lead us towards the eyes which then become very captivating. The eye on the right hand side is more defined and we can tell that through the smiles, there is something else happening. The shadowing has helped to define that eye as it is clear and bold whereas the other eye has the sun on it which makes it look rather joyful.
The second image is then linked in showing how he still has his nature side to him. However, this image shows him looking dominating. The worms eye view angle makes him look powerful and inferior as he is higher up than us and therefore has more control. This makes the audience feel weak as we know that we have no power against him and the look of menace on his face shows us not to mess with him. The feeling of weakness also comes across in the character himself as although he looks powerful, the branching tree looks like it is going to grab him. This is a strong juxtaposition as it is placed in a way which makes him seem like something that he is not. Again,we feel sympathetic towards him as we can see that he looks like he is struggling and isolated as there is nothing else around him that can help. The last image shows the characters more emotional side. The messy hood can show us how his life is in a disastrous state and his hands are trying to grip himself together and get through it. The shadowy face makes him look even more upset as it is showing how he can't see the light in but the fact how his nose is lit up shows that there is a way of accomplishment. I made the image grayscale as dark colours are associated with negativity and I didn't want any colours to be overpowering. We now know that his happy, nature loving side is taken over by his emotional state. Also, his eyes are not facing the audience which shows us that he is trying to avoid people which again, makes us feel sympathetic toward him.
